Good morning everybody,
It's been a while so I thought it would be a nice idea to put a post on my blog. How's life been in this western part of England? Well sunny! I was speaking with a guy in the shop this week and he said it isn't like this every year. The average temperature is around 12°C and there is a lot of sun...
But was have I been doing the last two weeks. Two weeks ago we went to visit Exeter on Sunday. It was raining whole the day, which didn't make the visit any better. The city of Exeter was rather small and except for a beautiful cathedral there was not much to see. So we ended up in a pub near the docks for a pint and a lunch.
During the week we are mostly on campus and in the evening we go back to Helford Passage, our home. Everybody prepares dinner once in a while, we have had pasta (of course), devil chicken, lasagna, delicious salads, etc. We cannot complain!
Last weekend we went to see the Eden Project. A set of large greenhouses build in a old clay mine. There is a rainforest dome and a Mediterranean dome. There is a tour around both domes, explaining all the threes and different climate types. You walk through the rainforest in South America, the banana fields in Africa and the wineries of California. It was nice to see such an extraordinary use of an old mine.
In the night we went to a club in Redruth, some students from the Camborne School of Mines (CSM) had organised a bus from Falmouth and back. It was a good party bus like in Falmouth the music sucks. We have the impression that the DJ's in Cornwall are not like those in London or the rest of England.
Last week we go our third assignment, this Tuesday we heard that all our assignments have to be delivered next Thursday. This caused a bit of panic in the group, because most of them hadn't started theirs yet. Everybody is now working hard every evening. The is stress in the air! Because Johan and I don't want to stay the whole weekend here to work on the assignments (both of us started well before the rest, and are almost finished), we decided to go surfing today!
So we're almost of to surf in the freaking cold water. We found a guy who organises surf trips and where we can hire a board and a wetsuit. He'll take us, and some other people to a beach were the waves will be just fine. He'll teach us how to surf, because none of us have ever surfed before.
I'll tell you all about this experience in the next post! See ya...
